GIASE (Social-ecological Action Research Group) is a group of transdisciplinary participatory action researchers that promote processes of collective learning and participation for socioecological transformation. The members have backgrounds in the humanities and sciences, participate in civil society organizations, communities and social movements. They organize workshops, courses, academic events, and transdisciplinary research processes based on participatory methodologies. GIASE is based in Mexico. Members of the Responsive Research Collective have collaborated with GIASE in a series of Workshops and Td Summer Schools in Mexico, Germany and Georgia. The collaboration contributes to elaborate on the interface between Transdisciplinarity and Participatory Action Research and has brought forth a series of publications.
The Paulo Freire Center Vienna (Austria) was founded in 2004 as a transdisciplinary institution that organizes dialogue between practice and research, offers space for the reflection of political practice, and promotes education as a reflection of practices. Building on the work of Paulo Freire (1921-1997) the Center advocates knowledge as a public property and considers research, education and politics as part of a process which ultimately aims at liberation. The Paulo Freire Center organizes conferences, workshops, seminars, and talks, and publishes on-line articles and pod-casts. The Responsive Research Collective is collaborating with the Paulo Freire Center in convening events and in publishing work on inter- and transdsiciplinarity related to Paulo Freire’s heritage.

Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research is the Crown Research Institute for our land environment and biodiversity. Our role and responsibility to New Zealand is clear. This land, and everything that shares it with us, is our future. Hence our purpose is ‘Science for our land and our future’. We want to ensure all New Zealanders have the knowledge, understanding and tools to live in harmony with our land by enjoying its many gifts, preserving its unique diversity, and enriching it with our creativity, care and culture.
